Flashy Fiction and Other Insane Tales Bundle Vol 12 edition by Jen Wylie Sean Hayden Literature Fiction eBooks

I must say that I wish these pieces of flash fiction were longer. They way in which they are written got me interested in seeing how some of these storylines would develop if they were fully-written books. Some were laugh out loud funny, and others had weird but interesting concepts.

Sean Hayden's writing style has a horror/adventure vibe to it, while Jen Wylie's style is more fantasy driven. But they accomplished their goal and now I want to read more from both authors, so I will have to check out more of their other work.

There were a few stories that could be considered short stories, and those in particular made me wish the pieces were longer.

I devoured this anthology in one sitting, but it is more for when you have a few spare minutes to read something short.

It was well-done, and earns four Platypires.

Flashy Fiction and Other Insane Tales Bundle Vol 12 edition by Jen Wylie Sean Hayden Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I loved that this book was filled with short stories from gory to creepy to mythical. Zombie, haunted pumpkins, unicorn, voices in your head and so much more. I loved that the stories from Sean came from ideas on twitter and facebook. His writing was new to me and truly entertaining. Jen is an awesome author who I have read her other books and she did not disappoint with her stories being powerful and almost poetic at times.

Even if you only have a few minutes you can read one of these stories. The authors alternate each story. I also love that after each story the author explained their inspiration about writing it.

If you want to discover two great authors with different writing styles but bring together a great short story book then pick this up. But I will warn you, you might not want to read some of them before you go to bed.

I received a gift copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
True to it's title this book bundle is filled with Flash Fiction and Insane tales. I was thoroughly captivated and could not put the book down. There are very different feels to each authors writing and I really enjoyed it. While both are very different the combination of writing styles flowed perfectly throughout the book.
The stories themselves are short and would satisfy a variety of readers. If you are looking for something that can fill in the time in your day here and there these stories would do that with out leaving you hanging. In turn it was excellent to just devour in one sitting. It was definitely the break I needed from the other books that I tend to devour, but this was no less imaginative and satisfying. This book was highly entertaining and I would definitely recommend it!
When I started reading Flashy Fiction & Other Insane Tales I didn't know quite well what to expect. From the cover I thought it was going to be a collection of horror stories and it is true there are some creepy ones, but mainly there are insane tales, as the title perfectly points out.
I won't compare their writings because each of them is unique and I would really, really love to read more collaborations between them.
I am a HUGE FAN of Jen's work and writing so from the very beginning I knew I was going to love her stories. Echoes of Darkness was my favourite short story, and now I want to read The Untouchable Echo to know more. As always, Jen's writing is powerful, descriptive and lyrical at the same time.
Before this collection of short stories I haven't heard about Sean Hayden and what a wonderful author I have been missing. Now I NEED to read some of his novels because if he has been able to create mysterious and funny novels in a bunch of pages such as The Day I Got Caught or And You Think Your Job Sucks to name some, I would love to read and know what he can do with a whole book length. I had A LOT of fun reading Sean's stories, he has a really peculiar sense of humor that had me gaping and laughing at the more unexpected moments. And the whole idea of twitter/ facebook competition was awesome!
The short explanations that came with every short story where really useful to know more about each story and about the authors. It was amazing to really see the difference between their writing when they are the character and when they are being themselves, I don't know if I have explained it good.
I also felt the difference between the 2 different parts. I liked the 1st one because of the craziness of each story, while the second one was more creepy and I loved that through their writing I could feel that they were even more attuned (don't know if this word is the proper one).
Flashy Fiction & Other Insane Tales is a funny and fast reading that sends good vibrations while you are reading. It also blends Jen's descriptive, lyrical and absorbing style with Sean's unexpected, sassy and powerful narrative.
It has taken me a while, but I FINALLY have had a chance to finish reading Flashy Fiction. I loved the back and forth between Jen and Sean. They compliment each other so well!! I truly enjoyed every story! (To the extent that I'm actually writing a review, which I rarely do.)
I wasn't sure what to expect but I love Jen's other books and so I tried this one too. It is a bunch of short stories written by Jen Wylie and Sean Hayden. I really liked how that the end of the story they explained their inspiration behind the stories. I have to say I was amazed at how quickly they could make a character and that person's world come to life. Some stories I really wished had been longer, but many were clever or made me think or just make me laugh out loud. These are great for a busy mom and I was able to sneak in a story when I had a few down moments. A few were pretty scary and I don't normally like that but they were not gory scary and were always very clever which made up for it for me. Although I did read a scary one right before bed and I did have some trouble sleeping that night ;-) I really enjoyed this book and I think I will have to check out Sean Hayden's other books too.
